Sloths move so slowly that algae grows on their fur. This algae is a food source for a (in Liam Neeson voice) very specific type of moth that has evolved to exist completely on a sloth. These moths - sloth moths - lay eggs in sloth dung. They hatch in sloth dung. And then they immediately fly to their host sloth, where they live out the rest of their days eating fur algae. Up to 120 moths have been counted living on a single sloth. For these moths, the sloth is their home planet, their world, their source of life. The sloth is their universe!
Maybe we are all just moths on a sloth…
