“I had been wanting to buy an original piece of Kate's art for years, and last year my husband and I found ourselves unexpectedly, and somewhat miraculously, pregnant. When I saw that the Lion and Lion Cub painting was for sale, I knew I had to have it for the nursery. It was the first thing I bought for the nursery, and still my absolute favorite part of the room. It's a beautiful representation of our love for our own little lion cub."

"I loved the surprise quote on the back of the canvas - I’m not sure if that’s a Kate Fitzpatrick touch - if it isn’t, it needs to be! Behind the painting is a quote by Maya Angelou - “I got my own back” - which was compelling for me because after all in this life, regardless of our status or station, ultimately we as individuals are responsible for our own selves - and that just hit home for me. When I’m not feeling my best, I look at it and it reminds me that I got myself through all of the days before this one, and I for sure can get myself through today as well."
